Maggie Field, Tasting Room Host
Maggie was born and raised in Watkins Glen, graduated and returned after twenty some years with a BFA in Filmmaking from SUNY Purchase and a Masters in Education Library Science from Western Maryland College. You can see her name in the end titles on the 1962 classic film Lawrence of Arabia. It was a thrill for Maggie to meet the director David Lean and spend hours in the editing room looking into Peter O'Tooles eyes...and even better to meet him and Omar Sharriff in person! Thanks to Turner Classic Movies, Maggie's study of classic film continues on in my living room.
Maggie returned to Watkins Glen as the High School Library Media Specialist, replacing the librarian she had while a student there. She teaches Video Production, and has overseen a remodel and addition to the library. Maggie has been a school library media specialist in four states since 1986, returning to WGHS in 2001.
She loves to hike, play golf, read, watch classic films and sip on Finger Lakes wine. As an animal lover, Maggie's two cats make her laugh every day. She also grows hops as a hobby, which yields some great beer from the brewer friends she gives them to.
Maggie used to visit Atwater when it was Rolling Vineyards, and was a frequent Atwater Case Club member when she returned to Seneca. She "volunteered" time in the tasting room before becoming a hired part time wine host.
Drop in on a Monday during July and August and Maggie will be there. You may even be able to catch her at the right time some Monday for a tasting out the window as you enjoy the view from the deck.
