Noiret
Origin: Introduced by Cornell Grape Breeding program July 2006. The result of complex interspecific hybrid resulting from a cross made in 1973 between NY65.0467.08 and Steuben.
NY Introduction: 2006
Atwater Introduction: 2006
Acreage: Atwater Estate Vineyards: .10 acres
Taste Characteristics: This superior new hybrid produces wines that are free from the aromas typical of many other red hybrid grapes. Noiret is richly colored with juicy blackberry fruit, suave mouthfeel and slightly peppery finish. The tannins are riper and rounder, giving the wine a velvety quality. It takes to oak well but doesn't seem to need much.
